FRESNO, Calif. --- Jordan Brink delivered yet another dominating outing and Chris Mariscal provided the big hit as Fresno State defeated Air Force 5-3 on Sunday afternoon to sweep the five-game Mountain West series at Beiden Field.

"A five game sweep is exactly what we needed," Fresno State head coach Mike Batesole said. "I can't remember since I have been here having a five game streak. These are Division 1 baseball games that are tough to win. You get five games in three days, you're doing something right."

Brink, who was a star at the plate in the first four games of the series, went to the mound this time to overpower the Falcons. The sophomore threw his first-ever complete game, striking out a career-high 12 and allowing just seven hits and two earned runs with no walks for his third win of the season.

After falling behind 1-0 early, the `Dogs scored single runs in the second and third innings on a RBI-single by Taylor Tempel to score Jordan Luplow and sacrifice fly by Trent Garrison to plate Austin Wynns.

With Fresno State (13-24, 8-10 Mountain West) leading 2-1 in the fourth, Mariscal delivered the big blow that opened the game up. He took a pitch from Air Force starter Steven Trojan over the left field fence for a three-run home run to make it a 5-1 lead over Air Force (10-28, 4-14 MW). The long ball was Mariscal's first of the year.

Brink finished the series 8-for-13 (.615) at the plate with two doubles, three triples, seven RBI, three runs scored and a 1.231 slugging percentage to go along with his complete-game pitching victory.

Luplow also had a strong series at the plate. The sophomore from Clovis went 11-for-18 (.611) with a double, two triples, five RBI and five runs scored.

"Brink slammed the door today when we needed it," Batesole said. "We could see that everyone was pushing it to the finish line, and then he was too all of a sudden, but to be able to get out of that with no walks and twelve strikeouts is fantastic."

With the five-game series sweep, the `Dogs moved right back in to the thick of the Mountain West Conference race. They will head to San Diego State next weekend with a chance to move as high as second-place in the conference.

Fresno State returns to action Tuesday night at CSU Bakersfield for a 6:35 p.m. first pitch.
