'Dogs Beat CSUB, Extend Home Win Streak to Six
April 30, 2013
FRESNO, Calif. --- In a tune up for this weekend's Mountain West series at UNLV, the Fresno State baseball team earned a 7-4 victory over the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners on Tuesday night at Pete Beiden Field.
The win marked the sixth straight home win for the Bulldogs, who swept Air Force in a rare five-game home series from April 19-21.
Fresno State (15-27) built as much as a six-run lead after the first four innings and never looked back as its young pitching staff combined to allow just one earned run.
Aside from three runs scored by its leadoff hitter Oscar Sanay, Bakersfield (29-17) struggled to execute throughout much of the night as the Roadrunners left 11 runners on base and walked six Fresno state batters.
CSUB, who boasts the best overall record in its Western Athletic Conference, had four 'Runners post two hits in the game.
Fresno State now heads to play at UNLV on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a shot at moving into third place in the Mountain West standings and trying to track down San Diego State in the league race for a first-round bye in the MW Tournament.
The conference tournament, which awards an NCAA Tournament automatic bid to its winner, will be played May 22-26 at Fresno State's Beiden Field.
