    LAS CRUCES, NM - The Fresno State baseball team won their fourth-straight game and earned the sweep over No. 25 New Mexico State. The Bulldogs won a close game 8-6. The `Dogs are now 30-20 this season and 11-5 in Western Athletic Conference play. The four wins over the weekend helped the Bulldogs pulled ahead of the Aggies and into first place in the WAC standing. Fresno State closes out the regular season with eight games at home.

    Four Bulldogs connected for three hits in the final game of the series. Danny Muno and Dusty Robinson went 3-for-6, Garrett Weber went 3-for-4 and Bobby Coyle went 3-for-5. The `Dogs tallied eight runs on 16 hits.

    Fresno State hit 12 home runs in four games. Robinson hit a team-high four homers and 12 RBIs this weekend. On the mound, the Bulldog pitching staff recorded 30 strikeouts against the Aggies.

    Leadoff batter Danny Muno beat the throw to first base for an infield single to start the game. Robinson singled to left field to put two runners on base for designated hitter Bobby Coyle. The junior hit an RBI single over the head of the second base. The Bulldogs take the lead 1-0.

    The `Dogs added another run after Garrett Weber hit a sacrifice bunt down the first base line.

    With runners on the corners, Steve Detwiler hit a double to left field driving in two runs and the Bulldogs increase their lead 4-0.

     

     

    The first inning rally continued as Trent Garrison drove in a run with a single up the middle. Fresno State recorded five hits in the first inning taking an early 5-0 lead.

    Sophomore Derek Benny earned his first WAC start on Sunday afternoon. He threw three-straight scoreless innings. Benny struck out two batters in a five inning outing.

    The Aggies put a run on the board in the fourth inning as they trailed the Bulldogs, 5-1.

    Jordan Ribera hit an infield single in the fifth inning extending his hitting streak to 14 games in a row. His streak is the longest on the team this season.

    New Mexico State scored three runs in the fifth inning bringing the Aggies within a run of the Bulldogs.

    In the sixth inning, senior Isacc Vivas hit a solo bomb over the center field wall. Fresno State led NMSU 6-4.

    The Aggies answered with two runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning tying the ball game.

    Senior Sean Bonesteele threw a scoreless seventh inning and earned his third win of the year. He is now 3-0 on the mound in 2010.

    Brennan Gowens made his second diving catch of the game in the seventh inning. The sophomore center fielder robbed NMSU twice from extra base hits.

    In the eighth inning, Coyle gave the Bulldogs the lead 7-6 with an RBI single up the middle.

    Taylor Garrison came in to close in the eighth inning. The sophomore struck out three in two hitless innings.

    A pair of walks and an error put a Bulldog on every bag in the top of the ninth inning. Muno hit an RBI single through the left side bringing in a run and the `Dogs lead, 8-6.

    Fresno State won the final game against New Mexico State 8-6.
