LAS CRUCES, N.M. --- The Fresno State baseball team pummeled New Mexico State 12-2 in its Western Athletic Conference series opener in Las Cruces behind the power of Aaron Judge's fourth homer of the season and four RBI off the bat of Chris Mariscal.

Fresno State sophomore starting pitcher Tyler Linehan went the distance for his first complete of the season and picked up his fourth victory of the year. Linehan retired ten straight and 14 of 15 Aggies at one point, and finished with eight strikeouts.

The Bulldogs took advantage early by scoring five times and batting around in the top of the first.

The first run came in on a bases-loaded walk to Bulldog catcher Austin Wynns issued by NMSU southpaw Ryan Beck, who also hit Kenny Wise a batter later and gave up a bases-clearing three RBI double to Chris Mariscal, for the 5-0 lead.

Fresno State tacked on three runs in the top of the sixth when Jordan Luplow ripped a RBI double and Mariscal and Patrick Hutcheson added RBI singles.

The 'Dogs added another in seventh when Judge blasted the solo shot into the trees past the left field fence and scored three more runs over the final two frames for the ten-run victory.

The Bulldogs (22-23, 5-8 WAC) and Aggies (30-18, 7-6 WAC) will play the second game of the Friday doubleheader with first pitch tentatively slated for approximately 5:20 p.m. PT., but there is currently a lightning delay. The teams will close out the series on Saturday afternoon at 12:05 p.m. PT. The entire series can be heard live on AM 940 KYNO.
