Burke Becomes Schools All-Time Save Leader

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team ended the regular season with a 13-6 win over Sacramento State on Sunday afternoon at Hornet Field. Fresno State is 33-27 and 21-11 in WAC play while Sacramento State dropped to 23-32 and 14-17 in conference.
Brandon Burke earned his seventh save of the season and became the schools career All-Time save leader as he pitched the final the final two and 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and striking out one batter. Kris Tomlinson earned the win as he tossed two and 2/3 innings, striking out three and allowing two hits.
Fresno State pounded out 18 hits led by Justin Wilson's 3 for 4 day. Danny Muno, Gavin Hedstrom, Erik Wetzel, Steve Susdorf, Alan Ahmady and Trent Soares all had two hits for the Dogs. Susdorf had three RBIs and he is now three away from becoming the schools career All-Time RBI leader.
After giving up three runs in the first inning, the Bulldogs came back and tied the game at three in the top of the third inning. Muno started the inning with a double down the left field line. Hedstrom then reached on an infield single to the short stop.
Then with one out Wetzel was hit by a pitch and Muno scored the first run of the game for Fresno State when the Hornet pitcher Corey Weglin committed a throwing error on a failed pickoff attempt at first. Susdorf then hit his ninth homerun of the season to tie the game at three.
Sacramento State retook the lead at 5-3 but in the top of the fourth the Bulldogs took their first lead of the game at 6-5 thanks to another three run inning.
Wilson and Soares opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Then on another failed pickoff attempt by Weglin, Soares and Wilson moved up a base to second and third. Wilson scored the first run of the inning off a sacrifice fly by Muno. Hedstrom then platted Soares after reaching base on a successful bunt attempt. Wetzel followed with an RBI single that allowed to Hedstrom to score and give Fresno State lead.
Fresno State added a run in the fifth to up the lead to 7-5 and then in the eighth Susdorf singled home Muno to give the Dogs an 8-5 lead. The Bulldogs loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth inning, scored five runs and sent 11 batters to the plate.
