    FRESNO, Calif. - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released their 12th annual preseason poll and placed Fresno State baseball No. 17 in the country.

    The Bulldogs topped the NCBWA final poll in 2008 after winning the College World Series. North Carolina was ranked No. 1.

    Six teams from last year's College World Series are ranked in the Top 10. Fresno State is the only school from the WAC represented in the poll. UC Davis and Oregon, two schools Fresno State will face this year received votes.

    Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport.

    Batesole Garners Fourth Coach of the Year Accolade

    Head coach Mike Batesole earned his fourth Coach of the Year award from the American Baseball Coaches Association. He was given the award at the annual ABCA conference held in San Diego, Calif.

    "Join the State - Fresno State!" - The National Champion baseball team kicks off the 2009 season on Friday, February 20 as they host the Pac-10 Washington Huskies.
