FRESNO, Calif. – The Dugout Club held its 26th annual Double Play dinner Friday night at the Veterans Memorial District to honor Fresno State baseball’s past and present.

The evening included the introduction of the 2013 baseball team, a ring ceremony for the 2012 WAC championship team and the induction of three new Fresno State legends to the Dugout Club Wall of Fame.

Doug Fister, current member of the Detroit Tigers, was the first to be inducted during the evening. Fister played two seasons for the ’Dogs after transferring from Merced College. Fister joined Fresno State in 2005 and won a team best seven games, he was second on the team in innings pitched and strikeouts all while starting 26 games at first base. In 2006 he anchored the Bulldog pitching staff on Friday nights and racked up six wins on his way to being named first-team All-WAC.

“This is where it started, this is home,” said Fister. “It’s such an honor for me to be considered a Bulldog and to be inducted to the Wall of Fame.” “This is such a humbling experience, tonight was right up there with one of the better nights of my life.”

Local businessman Jim Pardini was introduced as the second new member of the 2013 Wall of Fame class. Pardini is a longtime supporter of the Fresno State baseball team and an active caterer for Bulldog athletics.

The nightcap was the induction of head coach Mike Batesole. Batesole enters his 11th season as head coach of the Bulldogs and continues to build an unmatched legacy Fresno State baseball has not seen before. Accolades include the 2008 NCAA Championship and seven consecutive conference titles while also making his stamp off the field too. He continues to effect the lives of student-athletes and keeps academics a priority as his teams continue to carry exceptional GPA's.

“Tonight’s dinner was fantastic, “ said Batesole. “[Doug] Fister and [Jim] Pardini are two of my favorite people, and to get to be inducted in the same class as those two makes tonight doubly great.” “I had no idea this was happening, it was a great night for all of us.”

Fresno State will host its annual alumni game at 2 p.m. on Saturday and the season kicks off next Friday against UC Santa Barbara at 6:35 p.m. Season tickets are available through the Bulldog Ticket Office by calling 559-278-DOGS or visiting www.gobulldogs.com.
