FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team is on schedule to face the Sacramento State Hornets Tuesday at Beiden Field for a midweek contest, first pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
The 'Dogs will look to rebound from their season-opening series against a Hornets squad who traveled to Austin, Texas to face the Longhorns over the past weekend. Sacramento State dropped two-of-three to Texas, similarly to the `Dogs in their first series.
Despite dropping the three-game set, Fresno State shined in its season opener as it surrendered just one run. William Munro picked up the win, pitching five scoreless innings with three strikeouts to lead the 'Dogs to their first victory on Friday. Over the next two games the 'Dogs had trouble keeping UC Santa Barbara from scoring as they had eight and 11 run outbursts against the 'Dogs on Saturday and Sunday. In spite of their troubles, the Bulldogs pitching staff tallied 21 strikeouts during the three-game series.
Trent Garrison had the hot bat over past three games, batting 6-for-11 with 3 RBI against UCSB. After a rocky start for Aaron Judge in game one, Judge went 5-for-8 over the final two games against the Gauchos. On Sunday he tallied his first home run of the season stole his first base of the young season.
