Taylor Ward Named MW Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State sophomore catcher/designated hitter Taylor Ward has earned Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week honors for games played from Feb. 17-23, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Ward, an Indio, Calif. native, helped lead the Bulldogs to a 4-1 week, including a 3-0 Mountain West series sweep of Nevada to kick off conference play.
Over five games played, three starts as the DH and two at catcher, Ward averaged a .389 batting average with seven hits, four runs scored and eight RBIs. In addition, he hit his first home run of the season and finished the week with a .611 slugging percentage.
For the week, Ward had at least one RBI and one hit in each of the Bulldogs five games during the stretch.

Fresno State will be at home on Wednesday to face Bakersfield at 6:35 p.m. at Beiden Field and will complete its nine-game homestand with a three-game series versus Texas A&M over the weekend.
