The Fresno State baseball team returns to Beiden Field Tuesday (March 25) to face No. 15 UC Santa Barbara for a midweek pairing before heading back on the road this upcoming weekend to take on San Diego State.
The Bulldogs most recently traveled to Omaha, Neb. for its final nonconference weekend series versus Creighton. The Bluejays defeated the 'Dogs 2-1 on Friday and 6-2 on Sunday. Saturday's game was cancelled due to bitter cold temperatures in the Great Plains.
UC Santa Barbara is ranked in all four major baseball polls as of Monday. The highest ranking was given by the Collegiate Baseball poll, the organization ranked the Gauchos No. 10, the school's highest ranking since 1986. The Gauchos are also ranked No. 15 in the Baseball America poll, No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches poll and No. 26 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll.
The top Bulldog headline on Monday was junior William Munro was named the Mountain West Baseball Pitcher of the Week, for games played March 17-23. It is his first career MW weekly award. Last Tuesday, the junior pitched a complete game shutout against the California Golden Bears. (Link to Release)
Diamond `Dog fans can catch the reigning Mountain West Pitcher of the Week as RHP Munro (2-0, 1.75 ERA) is projected to start Tuesday's game versus UC Santa Barbara. The Gauchos will throw RHP Shane Beiber (1-0, 3.52 ERA).
Tuesday's game versus Santa Barbara is Greek Night. The marketing department will be giving away Greek Tank Tops in-between innings and awarding $250 to the House with the largest attendance at the game
