COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State sophomore Jordan Brink earned Mountain West Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors for games played from April 15-21, 2013. It is Brink's first career MW weekly recognition.
Brink, a right-hander from Fresno, Calif., earned the Bulldogs a five-game sweep of Air Force with his first complete-game performance on Sunday with a 5-3 win.
Brink threw a career-best 12 strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs without walking a batter over the nine innings.
"Brink slammed the door when we needed it," Fresno State head coach Mike Batesole said after Sunday's win. "We could see that everyone was pushing it to the finish line, and then he was too all of a sudden, but to be able to get out of that with no walks and twelve strikeouts is fantastic."
Fresno State (13-24) takes its five-game winning streak down Highway 99 to play at CSU Bakersfield (27-14) on Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m. PT.
