COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West conference announced on Monday that it has named Fresno State freshman pitcher Fred Schlichtholz its MW Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played April 21-27.

In a tie game, 1-1, in the 14th inning against No. 29 Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday April 23, Schlichtholz entered the contest and guided the Bulldogs through the next three innings with scoreless relief work. The Bulldogs pushed across the game winning run in the 16th inning, earning the true freshman his first career Division-I win.

Schlichtholz walked the first batter he faced in the top of the 14th, then went on to retire the next nine batters he faced in order to put Fresno State in position to win the longest game the Bulldogs have played to date this season.

The Del Mar, Calif. native has appeared in nine games this season; he collected his first career save on March 11 vs. Penn State in his first career outing for the Bulldogs.

"Catch the Wave" - The official home of the Fresno State Bulldogs is 940 AM ESPN Radio.
