With only five games remaining in the 2014 regular season, Fresno State will close out the road portion of its schedule on Wednesday with a nonconference game against Bakersfield from the Western Athletic Conference. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Hardt Field.

Not only does Wednesday's game close out the regular season road schedule, but it also caps a five-game swing away from home. On April 30 Fresno State opened its road trip at Cal State Fullerton, from there the 'Dogs traveled north for a three-game Mountain West conference series over the weekend at San Jose State. Fresno State fell 8-1 at Fullerton and lost two of three at San Jose State. Prior to going on the road, the 'Dogs played five-straight games at Beiden Field and swept their homestand, defeating California, Cal State Fullerton and outscored Air Force 25-3 in three games during the week of April 22-27. This season the Bulldogs are 18-8 at home while 7-16 on the road.

Bakersfield hosted UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday night to kick off a week of hosting five games in six days at Hardt Field. The Runners fell to the Gauchos 7-3. In WAC play the Runners traveled to Northern Colorado last weekend and swept their conference series. Bakersfield is 20-27 overall and 12-9 in conference action.

The May 7 contest against Bakersfield is the first game of a home-and-home series between the two programs. The Bulldogs play host to CSUB on Tuesday, May 13 for their first game back at Beiden Field after having their first weekend off all season, May 9-11. The two schools were originally scheduled to face each other on February 26, but inclement weather forced the game to be rescheduled.

Fresno State will close out the regular season with a three-game MW series against San Diego State, May 15-17. The Mountain West Conference tournament will be held in Las Vegas, hosted by UNLV, May 21-25.
