FRESNO, Calif. - Prior to the start of the Mountain West baseball tournament, the conference announced the 2013 All-MW baseball teams and three Bulldogs were selected as voted on by the league coaches.
Junior Aaron Judge earned first team honors, while sophomore Chris Mariscal and freshman Blake Quinn were named second team All-Mountain West. Quinn was also named co-Freshman of the Year with New Mexico's Sam Haggerty.
Judge, an outfielder from Linden, Calif., earned his third consecutive all-conference honor. He leads the team in every offensive statistical category as he enters his third conference tournament, which begins Wednesday night against Nevada. Judge is hitting .373 with 72 hits including, 15 doubles, four triples and 11 home runs. He hit back-to-back long balls against the Wolf Pack last weekend.
The center fielder also has 35 RBI, 31 walks and 11 stolen bases so far this season. Judge has a .461 on base percentage along with a .663 slugging percentage. He began his junior campaign by winning the 2012 Ameritrade Home Run derby.
Quinn is the first Freshman of the Year selection since 2011 when Judge earned the accolade. A Fresno, Calif. native, Quinn has the lowest ERA on the 'Dogs staff with a 2.64 ERA after 47.2 innings of work. He has a 3-3 record on the mound in seven starts and 13 appearances. Quinn has struck out 31 batters while allowing only 16 walks.
Another Valley product, Mariscal earned his first all-conference accolade. He hit .302 this season with 61 hits, which is second most on the squad. The short stop recorded 12 doubles, two home runs and 19 RBI. He also collected 13 walks and three stolen bases.
