Dogs' Play No. 2 Tar Heels Saturday
June 19, 2008
OMAHA - "Waiting is the hardest part," Tom Petty. After waiting for three days to get back to action in the College World Series, the Fresno State baseball team will play North Carolina Saturday at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN. A severe thunderstorm rocked Omaha, site of the College World Series, Thursday night causing a postponement of the LSU vs. North Carolina. That game was concluded Friday night in Omaha with the Tar Heels, the No. 2 national seed scoring four runs in the top of the ninth inning to eliminate LSU with a 7-3 win. The Dogs return to action in the College World Series Saturday at 4 p.m. at Rosenblatt Stadium against North Carolina and need one win to advance to the national championship series. The Tar Heels have reached the championship series each of the last two years. Georgia plays Stanford in the other game that begins at 11 a.m. PT. After tonight's game, the Bulldogs have reached the "final four" of college baseball in their fourth trip to the College World Series. Fresno State opened the series with a 17-6 over No. 6 Rice on Sunday and beat the Tar Heels 5-3 on Tuesday to earn a 2-0 record in Bracket 2. The Tar Heels beat LSU twice in the double elimination format. CWS World Series Tickets Available Bulldog Shop Has CWS Gear 2008 College World Series Results and Schedule
