Batesole Adds Another Talented Recruiting Class
Nov. 29, 2012
By Stephen Trembley FRESNO, Calif. --- With the Fresno State baseball team just months from returning to the diamond for its first season in the Mountain West, coach Mike Batesole has added yet another talented recruiting class for the 2014 season - which includes five pitchers and one outfielder. "This is a terrific recruiting class. We needed power arms and left-handed arms and we got them both," Batesole said. "Rous (Pitching Coach Steve Rousey) really hit the recruiting trail this summer, I don't think he slept at home but a few nights, and the end result is the best class of pitchers of any university west of Texas." Specifically, the fall signing recruiting class includes three left-handed pitchers, two right-handed pitchers, and one outfielder, who all signed National Letters of Intent to play for Fresno State starting with the 2014 season. This class is loaded with impact, power arms, and one of the most athletic position players on the West Coast in Jordan Paroubeck, a 6-2 outfielder out of Redwood City, Calif. "The jewel of the class could be Paroubeck," Batesole said. "He's a fast, powerful, explosive, and switch-hitting centerfielder that will make an impact right away. He and (Alex) Salazar are both likely first rounders." Salazar, a 6-1 right-hander who prepped at Kerman High School, was the 2012 Southern California Max Preps Pitcher and headlines the five pitchers in the class that also includes right-hander Connor Brogdon (Liberty HS - Madera) and lefties Anthony Arias (Fairfield HS), Dillon Houser (St. Francis Central Coast HS) and Fred Schlicholtz (Coronado).
All six 2014 recruits come from the Golden State, which has been a priority for Batesole as he has built the Bulldogs into a perennial national contender, the 2008 College World Series champion and the conference champion in each of the past seven seasons.
