FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State made clutch shots to get late leads in regulation and the first overtime, but Nevada (10-9, 5-1 MW) kept finding ways to recover from them and then ran away from the Bulldogs (8-12, 1-6) in the second overtime to pull out a 96-86 win in double overtime on Wednesday night at the Save Mart Center.
The Wolf Pack scored the first eight points of the second overtime period and then knocked down free throws in the end to close it out.
Senior Deonte Burton (32 points) and sophomore Cole Huff (31) combined for 63 points on 25-39 shooting. Huff had a career-night from the three-point line. He attempted a career-high 10 three-pointers and knocked down a career-high six. Burton entered the night as Nevada's leading scorer, averaging 20.9 a game.
With Fresno State trailing 74-73 and time running down at the end of regulation, freshman Paul Watson nailed a three to give the Bulldogs a 76-74. The Wolf Pack had an answer and it came from their top player as Burton drove the lane and put in a floater to send the game to overtime.
In the first overtime, Fresno State held an 82-80 lead, but Huff found his way to the basket and got a layup with under a second to play to send the game to the second overtime.
Six Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Tyler Johnson's 20 point night. The others were Marvelle Harris (18 points), Allen Huddleston (13), Alex Davis (12), Cezar Guerrero (11), and Watson (10).
Johnson also finished with a team-high 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double this year. Harris tied his career-high with 10 rebounds, recording his second double-double.
