Last-Minute Flurry Lifts Boise State Past 'Dogs
Jan. 23, 2013
BOISE, Idaho --- The Fresno State men's basketball team aggressively ran its offense and contained one of the better outside shooting teams in the country until the game's final minute.
But the Bulldogs couldn't overcome the Broncos setting a Mountain West single game record with a perfect night at the free throw line and a game-winning flurry to hand Fresno State a 74-67 loss on Wednesday night at Taco Bell Arena.
Allen Huddleston scored 20 points and hit a career-best five 3-pointers for Fresno State (7-11, 1-4 Mountain West). Tyler Johnson added 16 points for the Bulldogs, who lost despite going 10 of 17 from 3-point range.
Derrick Marks scored 30 points and Anthony Drmic added 23 for Boise State, while Ryan Watkins also chipped in 10 points and a career-best 18 rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass, for the Broncos
Drmic's driving basket with 1:09 to play snapped a 66-66 tie and the Broncos (14-4, 2-2 MW) made six free throws over the final 35 seconds to complete the school-record and conference-record 26 of 26 effort from the free-throw line and cap the 8-1 closing run.
