LAS VEGAS --- On Saturday night at UNLV, the Fresno State men's basketball team suffered a 75-73 overtime loss to the Runnin' Rebels despite delivering one of the Bulldogs' best performances of the season.

Fresno State sophomore guard Cezar Guerrero scored a team-high 18 points and junior Alex Davis posted his second career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive glass. Bulldogs' freshman Paul Watson added 17 points and senior Tyler Johnson netted 14.

UNLV's Bryce Dejean-Jones hit a key 3-pointer with less than a minute to play in overtime, lifting UNLV past Fresno State for the second time this season.

Johnson hit back-to-back jumpers to give Fresno State a 72-70 lead with 1:14 remaining in overtime. Dejean-Jones answered with his 3-pointer to give the Rebels a 73-72 lead. Deville Smith and Dejean-Jones each made a free throw to stretch the lead to 75-72 with 8 seconds left. Smith then fouled Guerrero, who made one of two free throws. Johnson rebounded Guerrero's second free throw attempt, but was not able to get off a shot as time expired.

Khem Birch scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead UNLV (13-7, 4-3 Mountain West). Smith scored 17 points and Dejean-Jones added 10.

For Fresno State (8-13, 1-7 MW), it's been a brutally tough start to Mountain West play. The Bulldogs have played six of its eight conference games to date against teams that made the NCAA Tournament.

Fresno State returns to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. PT when the Bulldogs host Wyoming at the Save Mart Center.
