FRESNO, Calif. --The Fresno State men's basketball team defeated the Wyoming Cowboys on Wednesday night at the Save Mart Center 67-62 to snap a five-game losing streak and pick up its second Mountain West victory.

Fresno State senior guard Tyler Johnson scored a team-high 20 points. Johnson, who has now scored at least 20 points in six of the past eight games, shot 7 of 12 from the floor, finishing with eight rebounds and four assists.

Bulldogs' sophomore guard Marvelle Harris contributed 11 points. Freshman Paul Watson netted nine points, and both junior Alex Davis and senior Allen Huddleston added eight points. As a team, the Bulldogs finished the game with a 53.3% shooting average

"I was really proud of our guys tonight," head coach Rodney Terry said. "We knew coming into this game that we had to compete with a team that has extreme discipline on defense."

Fresno State (9-13, 2-7 Mountain West) remained in front for most of the game. In the second half, the 'Dogs grabbed an 11-point lead, their largest of the game, before the Cowboys rallied for a two-point lead midway through the second half.

"We've been there and we've seen that song and dance quite a bit in terms of having the lead, losing the lead, and again I give our guys the credit of regaining the lead," Terry said.

The 'Dogs regained the lead soon after and didn't look back. Fresno State went 8 of 8 from the free throw line in the final 2:57 in closing out the Cowboys for the key conference win. Wyoming's Larry Nance, Jr. led the Cowboys with 20 points while the Pokes dropped to 4-3 against conference opponents.

"We've been there before in terms of competing and trying to stay in games and be right where we need to be," Terry said. "Our guys did that at a high level tonight."

Fresno State heads to Colorado Springs in one week to take on the Air Force Falcons on Wednesday night. Tip off is at 6 p.m., and can be seen exclusively on the Mountain West Network. The Falcons lost 69-58 to Boise State on Wednesday and drop to 3-4 in conference play.
