Head Coach Rodney Terry
(What happened defensively tonight?)
"We knew going in that this team could really score the basketball, we knew they could really shoot the basketball, they are probably the best shooting team in the league. We gave them a couple of second chances to start. It only takes shooters just a couple of looks and a couple of times going to the basket. We did that with those guys tonight, they got a couple of open looks to start and they got a hot hand, give them credit, they made a lot of shots."
(Last time it was Watkins who really hurt you on the glass, you held him to one rebound tonight and none on the offensive, would you count that as a win?)
"Absolutely, we liked our chances on that. We knew going in that this was going to be the team that was most physical. I think up there at their place we won the game last time and with physical block outs. They sit better strings to get more open looks than the last time. If they had four offensive rebounds at the half and finished up with nine, that's a big part of the game and I'll give them credit again. They made open shots and you can't take anything away. Drmic was tough for us to deal with. By committee, he went to work on us and got to the paint and scored tough baskets."
(On Boise having the momentum)
"I think you just keep working the game, I said that to our guys. As much adversity we had in the second half, we cut it to a two possession game with an opportunity to finish up a defensive stop and a chance to cut it down to a one possession game. I think you just keep working the game, no matter what you have to keep fighting. They are playing for something, and we are playing for something. They capitalized on it. That is a growing curve for us, to be able to win home games."
(On half court struggle)
"I don't know if it was a necessary struggle. It came down to making shots and making plays. Our game plan going into this ball game was to really try and impose our will on those guys and put a bigger guy on the floor. For whatever reason we weren't able to get that ball in there and capitalize from the start of the game. Which again, we got some offense from our defense, with us not being able to do that. We defiantly wanted to put the ball inside on these guys all night. Give them credit, they made shots today, we have to make shots."
(On being around NIT Championship team experience)
"Well I said to our guys pregame, you often hear me talking to these kids about these being the best times of their lives. The experiences that they are having right now they are going to be able to share for a lifetime with lifetime friends. We heard those kind of experiences today from guys who haven't seen each other for twenty years, talking about games and practice... Those are the things I think that you walk away with. They have given back to our guys in that regard saying cherish every moment and embrace it and leave it all out there and have no regrets."
(On difference from beginning of the season)
"I feel a lot different. I think throughout the course of the season I went through a lot of adversity trying to adjust playing the new position but I feel pretty comfortable playing it now that I've made the transition."
(On the rest of the regular season)
"I'm playing to get a win streak going into the tournament. I think that will help us a lot and getting wins and building up our confidence. Once you get in the tournament, you win one game and then its anybody's game."
(On good games against Boise State)
"I think it's just the case of two good shooting nights and my teammates found me open and I knocked down some shots."
(On physicality of the game)
"It was physical. They were trying to run us off screens and bump us a bit. In the second half they brought the intensity."
