'Dogs Faced Tough Test in Logan
March 1, 2010
LOGAN, Utah - On a beautiful night in the Cache Valley, Fresno State ran into sharp-shooting and aggressive WAC leader Utah State and moved into sixth place in the Western Athletic Conference standings after its 76-39 loss in the jam-packed Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
"We had a few opportunities to get ourselves back in the game, but when you don't score for extended periods of time, it is difficult to win games," head coach Steve Cleveland said. "Utah State executes at a very high level. We have to regroup and realize that we have one more home game before heading to the WAC Tournament."
"We have an opportunity to win seven WAC games which is a big improvement from last year and we are going to come out and play better," Cleveland added. "We have to hit shots, stay positive and be ready to play on Thursday."
Utah State started the game with a 22-0 sprint in the Aggies' wire-to-wire victory. USU's Tai Wesley scored a game-high 21 points on 10 of 13 shooting.
Boyd Grant, Fresno State's all-time winningest men's basketball coach and current resident of Idaho, attended the game.
Fresno State will be back in the San Joaquin for Thursday's regular season finale against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at 7 p.m. Sylvester Seay, Fresno State's only senior, will be honored during pre-game festivities in the Save Mart Center for his two-year Bulldog playing career.
