KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Fresno State sophomore guard Kevin Olekaibe helped fuel the Bulldogs' offensive attack during the 2011-12 season and picked up his most noteworthy accolade to date with a spot on the 2012 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 6 second team.

Olekaibe, who averaged 17.8 points per game this past season, currently ranks sixth among all Division I sophomore guards and 47th for all D-I scorers. He finished second in the Western Athletic Conference in scoring to New Mexico State's Wendell McKines.

Olekaibe (Las Vegas, Nev.) also set a new school record for most points in a 40-minute game when he scorched Seattle U for 43 points on Feb. 23 and helped rally the 'Dogs to a 78-72 victory over the Redhawks.

In total, he scored 10 or more points in 25 games, reached at least 20 points 12 times and topped the 25-point mark eight times.

Olekaibe joined Nevada's Malik Story, Utah State's Preston Medlin, Weber State's Scott Bamforth and Portland State's Charles Odum on the 2012 NABC All-District 6 second-team.

McKines, Nevada's Deonte Burton, Hawai'i's Vander Joaquim, Weber State's Damian Lillard and Montana's Will Cherry were tabbed to the 2012 NABC All-District 6 first-team.

This is the fourth postseason honor for Olekaibe this year. In addition to this NABC second-team selection, he had already earned All-WAC honors by the conference head coaches, CollegeSportsMadness.com and CollegeHoops.net.

District 6 is one of 24 NABC districts and encompasses student-athletes from the WAC and Big Sky Conference. Voting is done by head coaches from those two conference's schools.

The 24 NABC districts honored 10 student-athletes each for a total of 240 NABC honorees.

All 240 student-athletes are now eligible for the NABC Coaches' Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Tuesday, March 20.
