FRESNO, Calif. - As the Fresno State men's basketball team returns to the court for fall practice, head coach Steve Cleveland announced the addition of Bryce Cartwright to the Bulldogs roster with an athletic aid agreement.

"I am very pleased to have Bryce in the program," Cleveland said. "He is a tough and competitive point guard who gives us additional depth at that position."

A native of Compton, Calif., the former Dons standout earned all-league honors for San Gabriel Valley while leading Dominguez High School to the 2008 state championship game by hitting roughly 12 points per game and averaging six assists each contest.

Cartwright is highly regarded for his dedication in the classroom, leadership ability, and natural athletic talent.

"Bryce has excelled on the court and in the classroom," Cleveland added. "He served as the team leader in directing an outstanding Dominguez High School program for the past two years."

Cartwright has enrolled in classes at Fresno State and will be eligible to play during the 2008-09 season.

Coach Cleveland also announced that Chris Jones, a 6' 3'' wing that signed early with the Bulldogs to play for the 2008-09 season, will not enroll at Fresno State this fall. Jones is currently attending Westwind Academy in Phoenix, Ariz. to prepare academically and athletically to excel at Fresno State.

"Chris will have an opportunity to complete his academic work and be better prepared to be successful at the next level on the court and in the classroom."

Cleveland expects Jones to join the Bulldogs for the 2009-10 season.
