'Dogs Host UCI in 150th Game at Save Mart Center
Fresno State (5-5) hosts UC Irvine (4-6) on Saturday night at 7 p.m. inside the Save Mart Center. In its tenth season playing at the SMC, the contest is the 150th for the Bulldogs at the on-campus arena. Ticket prices start at $17 for adults and $9 for youth, but children are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Following the game, all fans will be invited to the floor to take a team picture with the 'Dogs.
About the UC Irvine Anteaters
UC Irvine enters the matchup with a 4-6 record, including two overtime losses (at UCLA and Sam Houston State), but also a season-opening 78-64 victory over Nevada. Head coach Russell Turner is in his third season after leading the Anteaters to a 25-39 record in his first two seasons with back-to-back 6-10 records in Big West play. UC Irvine is led on the offensive end by Daman Starring who is averaging 13.4 ppg and shooting 48.8% from the field. On the boards, Adam Folker leads the charge with 6.6 rpg and teammate Will Davis II has added a team-best 25 blocks this year.
Against the UC Irvine Anteaters
Fresno State leads the all-time series with UC Irvine, 26-9. The Bulldogs have also gone 16-1 against the Anteaters in home games. After competing against each other as conference members in the PCAA and Big West from 1978 to 1992, the teams renewed the series on Nov. 12, 2006, when the 'Dogs downed the Anteaters, 82-51, in the most recent meeting.
'Dogs Defend Ground in Golden State Under Terry
For the second straight season, Fresno State is playing 19 of its regular season games in the state of California. Under Coach Terry, Fresno State is 16-9 when playing in the Golden State, including an 11-7 home record and a 6-2 mark against Big West opponents.
Terry Turns Up the Pressure, Exploits Takeaways
The relentless defensive pressure that Terry expects from his squad has held opponents to just 40.7 percent shooting (192-of-472) from the field and 29.1 percent 3-point shooting (37-of-127). Fresno State has forced an average of 15.8 turnovers per game (158 total) and own a +37 points off turnover margin (152-115), as well as a +36 steal margin (81-45).
Bulldogs Play With Aggressive Defensive Tenacity
Fresno State has held opponents to an average of 55.6 points per game, which ranks second in the Mountain West behind Wyoming's 55.3 points allowed per game, as well as in the top 20 nationally. The 'Dogs have also not allowed an opponent to score more than 70 points in a game and limited opponents to under 60 points in seven of their ten games, including each of the past four contests.

One of Rodney Terry's points of emphasis is the importance of valuing the basketball. Since Terry's arrival, Fresno State has not committed more turnovers than its opponents in 38 of the 42 games, including 33 of those 42 games where the 'Dogs made fewer turnovers than its opponents.

The Bulldogs' five losses have come by a combined 29 points (5.8 points per game) and two of the defeats were decided by a single possession (three points or fewer). Fresno State has outscored opponents by an average of 3.4 points per game (59.0 to 55.6), and have played much better offensively in the second half of games by owning a +36 point advantage (320 to 284) in the final 20 minutes of regulation this season.
Olekaibe Moving Up the Bulldogs' Record Books
Junior Kevin Olekaibe currently ranks 29th on Fresno State's all-time scoring list with 995 career points in 72 games. He also ranks seventh in 3-point field goal attempts (489) and ninth in 3-point field goals made (159). Olekaibe owns the seventh-best career free throw clip (79.0%).
Huddleston Provides Instant Scoring Presence
Redshirt junior point guard Allen Huddleston has provided a multi-dimensional scoring threat from the backcourt. Huddleston, who sat out last season as a Division I transfer form Pacific, has been one of the top 20 scorers in the Mountain West during non-conference play (11.7 ppg).
Bulldogs Making Run through Pac-12 Opponents
In Terry's first two seasons, Fresno State will play a total of seven different Pac-12 opponents, including two at the Save Mart Center (Utah and Colorado). This year, the Bulldogs lost 59-50 at Washington State and 50-43 at home to Colorado and visit UCLA on Dec. 22 at the new Pauley Pavilion. Last season, the Bulldogs played five games against Pac-12 teams and went 2-3 in those games with a 82-52 home win over Utah and a thrilling 68-65 comeback road victory at Arizona State.

Mountain West Teams Strong out of the Gate
Through games as of Dec. 13, Mountain West teams boasted the nation's best collective win percentage. MW squads are 65-17 against non-conference opponents for a .792 win percentage. Seven of the MW's losses are to teams that were or are currently ranked (Texas, Syracuse, Michigan State, Colorado and Wichita State). The Mountain West was one of three conferences (Big 12, Big East) with all teams having .500 records or better heading into this week's action. The MW is one of four conferences (Big East, Big Ten, SEC) to have two or more unbeaten teams, and the only league with two 10-0 squads.

Fresno State is in its first season as a member of the Mountain West, which produced four NCAA Tournament teams last year.
