Coaching Career
Is in his11th year at Fresno State and sixth as the team's defensive coordinator ... under Brown, the Bulldogs have been the WAC's top defensive unit in two of the past three seasons, leading the conference in both scoring and total defense ... the 'Dogs were ranked as high as No. 8 in the nation in scoring defense in 2005 (14.8 ppg) ... last season three players earned All-WAC honors, including linebacker Dwayne Andrews, who earned First Team honors. Defensive end Tyler Clutts and defensive back Jason Sherley, were each named to the second team ... two Fresno State players were named to the 2005 All-WAC first-team (Garrett McIntyre and Tyrone Culver) and for the second time in five years produced the WAC Defensive Player of the Year (McIntyre) ... the Dogs held some high scoring offenses to freakishly low numbers ... at Hawaii, the Dogs held the Warriors to 13 points, fewest by a WAC opponent in the June Jones era ... Fresno State held Boise State's offensive juggernaut to seven points, fewest by the Broncos in nearly 20 years ... Toledo, one of the nation's top 10 scoring teams of 2005, scored just 14 points against the Bulldog defense ... In 2004, Fresno State led the WAC in: scoring defense (21.1 ppg), pass defense (174.8 ypg), turnover margin (+7), total defense (339.2 ypg) and ranked third in the NCAA in pass efficiency defense (99.1 rating) ... Fresno State racked up such lofty numbers while playing the NCAA's No. 2, No. 9 and No. 11 scoring offenses, plus the nation's No. 2 passing offense and top-ranked rushing offense ... the WAC was the nation's highest scoring offensive conference, averaging 39.0 points per game per team (not counting Fresno State's offense) ... the Bulldog defense allowed just nine touchdown passes all season ... only four schools in the NCAA allowed fewer ... two Bulldogs were selected to the All-WAC first-team defensive squad, while seven others were either second-team or honorable mention All-WAC ... Fresno State's shutout vs. SMU on Oct. 30, 2004 in a 42-0 win was the first at the school since 1996 ... Fresno State held its opponents to an average of 16 points per game over the last five games of the season ... the Bulldogs returned four interceptions and one fumble recovery for touchdowns ... in 2003, the Bulldogs finished second in the WAC in scoring defense at 23.7 per game ... it marked the second time three years the Bulldogs finished either first or second in the league in scoring defense ... over a three-game stretch in November, Fresno State allowed just 28 points, the lowest allowed since 1990 ... over the last seven games of the season, the Bulldogs gave up an average of just 16.6 points per contest, including only nine in the bowl game victory over UCLA ... in that win over the Bruins, Brown's defense allowed a mere 164 yards of total offense ... of the 11 starting defensive players from last year's squad, nine were underclassman ... three defensive players were named either first or second team All-WAC, including James Sanders and Bryce McGill, who were also second-team selections in 2002 ... in 2001, the Bulldogs finished tops in the WAC and 41st in the nation in scoring defense ... in 2002, the Bulldog defense produced three-first team All-WAC Players (Nick Burley, Jason Stewart and Cameron Worrell) ... the Brown-led defensive troops in 2001 also were best in the conference and 18th in the NCAA in rushing defense, allowing just 109.8 yards per game ... a total of 11 Bulldogs were honored as first-team, second-team or honorable mention All-WAC in 2001 ... excels at making adjustments at halftime, evidenced in the 2001 defense allowing just 21 points in the second half over the last five regular season games and a second-half shutout at Wisconsin ... Alan Harper, Nick Burley and Vernon Fox all received first-team All-WAC honors under his watch in 2001 ... as linebackers coach from 1997-01, he was in charge of All-WAC players Tim Skipper, Orlando Huff, a fourth round pick of the Seattle Seahawks, and A.J. Gass ... all three Fresno State linebackers in 2000 earned All-WAC honors ... worked with Pat Hill on signing three of the schools best recruiting classes in Fresno State history in 1999, 2000 and 2001 ... 15 student-athletes were identified for national or regional recognition from major recruiting publications, including Prep Star and Super Prep ... has spent time as a defensive coordinator at the NCAA I-A and II levels and has coached in both the Canadian Football League and the Arena Football League ... prior to joining Fresno State, he spent the 1996 season as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Boise State ... that followed one-year stints with Memphis of the Arena Football League (1996) and Birmingham of the Canadian Football League (1995) ... at Memphis, he handled personnel and was the team's defensive coordinator ... at Birmingham, he served as defensive line coach under head coach Jack Pardee and was part of a franchise that made CFL history by reaching the playoffs and posting the best record (11-7) by an expansion team ... in 1993 and '94, he was assistant head coach and coordinated the defense for Portland State teams that compiled a two-year record of 17-6 and advanced to the national Division II playoffs both seasons ... from 1987-91, he served on the coaching staff at University of New Mexico, including two seasons (1990, '91) as the Lobos' defensive coordinator ... he coached at Boise State from 1981-86, during which time the Broncos posted a six-year record of 42-26.

Athletics Career
A two-year letterman (1979-80) at Boise State University as a linebacker ... played on teams that posted a combined record of 20-4 ... the Broncos won Big Sky Conference titles both years and captured the NCAA I-AA title in 1980, defeating Eastern Kentucky 31-29 in the championship game ... transferred to Boise State from Mt. San Jacinto CC in Southern California, where he was an all-conference linebacker ... prepped at Norco (Calif.) High School, where he earned all-league, all-county and All-CIF honors as a linebacker.

Born June 28, 1958, in Orange, Calif. ... he and his wife, Mindy, have six children: Korissa, Tara, Larry, Eric, Travis and Jordan ... has 14 siblings, including 10 brothers ... nephew of longtime pro and college coach Dick Coury ... earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Boise State in 1982.
