2013 (Junior): Named to the Mountain West All-Academic team ... played in 12 games, serving on special teams and backup running back ... recorded first career touchdown on five carries for 12 yards at Idaho ... has two carries for seven yards at Wyoming ... carried the ball a career-high 11 times for a career-high 48 yards at home against New Mexico.

2012 (Sophomore): Played in two games on the season ... recorded two carries against Colorado.

2011 (Freshman): Played in two games and recorded one tackle against California in the season opener.

High School: Lettered two years in football ... helped Lincoln High School to an overall record of 18-5 in two seasons ... was a running back and linebacker ... named first-team all-league twice ... as a junior recorded 65 tackles and had a 72-yard kickoff return for a touchdown ... rushed for 574 yards on 88 carries during his senior season and averaged 6.5 yards ... also ran track.

Personal: Parents are Richard and Janetta Newsom ... has a brother, Richard, and a sister, Jaloni ... hobbies are playing basketball, watching sports and television ... admires his family because they are always there for him ... lists Barry Sanders has his favorite athlete because he was great and a very humble person, who is inspirational ... majoring in kinesiology.
