A key member of the offensive line from 1997-00, Russell Harding will serve as a student assistant coach this year.
Harding returned to action last year after missing nearly two seasons with a severe knee injury. In addition to being a valuable member of the offensive line, he served as an inspiration to his teammates with his hard work in the training room and weight room. Last year, he started in five games at left guard and helped give quarterback David Carr the time necessary to stay in the top three in the WAC all year in quarterback efficiency and total offense.
It was a tremendous comeback for the Sanger, Calif., native, who spent the 1999 season on the sidelines rehabilitating a severe knee injury he suffered the first game of the '98 season at Texas Tech.
Born Aug. 29, 1978, Harding is the son of Jim and Valerie Harding. He has one brother and two sisters.
