Mike McHugh was hired on Feb. 22, 2013 to serve as the coordinator of football operations for the Bulldog football team.

McHugh spent the past 10 seasons serving as the Director of Football Operations at Cal. There he was responsible for building and maintaining the programs $5.5 million operating budget and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Cal football program. He also oversaw the construction of the $150 million High Performance Center.

McHugh's prior experience includes serving two years as an offensive assistant coach for the Detroit Lions (2001-02), and stops at Oregon (1999-2001) and Missouri (1993-98) as Director of Football Operations.

He also has coaching experience from his four years at Eastern Michigan. He started there as an offensive line coach for the 1989 and 1990 seasons. In 1991, McHugh served as EMU's recruiting coordinator and in 1992 he was the defensive line coach.

McHugh played tight end and wide receiver from 1979-81 at the University of Findlay in Ohio, helping lead them to the 1979 NAIA National Championship. He also ran track at Findlay. Prior to playing for Findlay, he was a wide receiver for Potomac State Junior College in West Virginia.

He graduated from Findlay with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education in 1983 and earned a master's degree in physical education from Eastern Michigan in 1993.

McHugh was the head women's track & field coach at Findlay in 1982. Later that fall, he went on and served as an assistant coach for the Liberty Benton High School football team. In 1983, he was an assistant head coach at Northmor High School in Galion, Ohio and was the head coach there from 1984-87. McHugh was also the head women's track & field coach at Northmor from 1984-85.
