Enters his fourth season as coach on the Bulldog staff ... after coaching the linebackers in 2008 he was assigned to coach the defensive line in 2009 ... under his guidance in 2010, Chris Carter and Logan Harrell combined for 21.5 sacks ... the 'Dogs ended the season ninth in the nation in sacks with 2.85 per game ... both Carter and Harrell earned first-team All-WAC honors and Carter was named the 2010 WAC Defensive Player of the Year ... Carter was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round ... in 2008, Plemons developed an outstanding young group of linebackers, led by sophomore Ben Jacobs, a second-team All-WAC selections, and sophomore Chris Carter, who played half the season at linebacker, also a second-team All-WAC selection ... he came to Fresno State after two seasons in the Big Sky Conference, one at Idaho State and one at Sacramento State ... in 2007, he was the defensive line coach at Sacramento State and he served as the defensive line coach at Idaho State in 2006 ... he coached All-Big Sky players Ville Akoteu and Joel Janke at ISU and Dallas Mauga at Sacramento State ... Plemons is no stranger to the Bulldog program, having served as a defensive graduate assistant for the 'Dogs for two seasons, working with line coach Kerry Locklin on the defensive line from 2004-05 ... during his time, he worked with some of the top defensive players in Bulldog history, including 2005 WAC Defensive Player of the Year Garrett McIntyre ... the 'Dogs led the WAC in total defense in 2005 ... prior to Fresno State, Plemons began his coaching career at his alma mater of Cal Lutheran, where he worked from 1998-2004 ... He started out on the offensive side as tight ends and assistant offensive line coach ... in 2002, he was elevated to defensive line coach and was given the additional responsibilities of recruiting coordinator in 2003 ... while at Cal Lutheran, Plemons helped guide seven all-conference players, one of whom earned second-team All-America honors ... Plemons also had experience as a strength and conditioning coach from his time at Cal Lutheran.
He graduated in 1997, serving as a four-year starter for the Kingsmen. As a senior, he was named team captain and selected Most Inspirational and all-conference. He earned a Master's degree in Education in 2001.
A native of Klamath Falls, Ore., he is married to Mary Beth Plemons. The couple has three children, William Jr., Bearacb and Nadia.
