Fresno State In-Game Notes at Nebraska

Pre-Game Notes
• Fresno State captains: 33, 65, 70
• Bulldogs won the toss, deferred to the second half. Nebraska to receive the opening kickoff, `Dogs to defend the North goal.

1st Quarter
Derron Smith forced a fumble on the second play of the game, but the ball went out of bounds before Fresno State could recover. It was Smith's first career forced fumble.
Derek Carr completed a 12-yard pass to Rashad Evans on Fresno State's first third-down of the game for the conversion. Three plays later, Carr hit Jalen Saunders on a third-and-7 for a 17 yard gain and another first down.
Chase McEntee tackled Taylor Martinez for a loss of three yards at 8:41. It was his first tackle for a loss this season and his 9.5 tackle for a loss in his career.
Devon Wylie returned a punt 67-yards for a touchdown at 7:45. The punt return for a touchdown was the first by a Bulldog since Oct. 24, 2009, when Chastin West returned a punt 88-yards for a touchdown at New Mexico State.
Kevin Goessling recorded the 300th point of his career on a PAT after Wylie's touchdown, becoming the fourth Bulldog to eclipse the 300-point plateau in a career.
• The Bulldogs went for it on a fourth-and-2 at the 3-yard line, and Derek Carr was able to run for a touchdown - his first career rushing touchdown. The play was initially ruled down at the one-yard line, but after a review, it was determined that Carr extended the ball over the pylon.
Derron Smith intercepted a pass with eight seconds left before the end of the quarter, but he fumbled the ball after a 13-yard return and Nebraska recovered. It was Smith's first career interception.

2nd Quarter
Jeremiah Toma forced Taylor Martinez to fumble at the Fresno State 46-yard line at 14:21. Donavon Lewis recovered for the Bulldogs, but after a review of the play, it was determined that Lewis was out of bounds when he recovered the ball and the Huskers retained possession. It set up a fourth-and-1 at the Bulldog 49-yard line.
• The Huskers went for it on fourth-and-1, but Fresno State held them to no-gain to take over on downs.
L.J. Jones broke up a pass on a third down at 11:35. It was his second pass breakup of the season.
Andrew Shapiro pinned the Huskers inside their 15-yard line on three-straight punts in the quarter. One of them was downed at the five-yard line.
L.J. Jones intercepted a Taylor Martinez pass on the final play of the half. It was his second interception of the season.
• The Bulldogs held Nebraska to 1-of-7 on third downs in the first half and controlled the ball for 18:45 of the first 30 minutes.
Rashad Evans had six catches for 63 yards in the first half. His career-high for catches in a game was six, which he has done twice before.

3rd Quarter
Kevin Goessling connected on a 36-yard field goal at 10:17. It was his second field goal of the game.
Logan Harrell knocked down a pass at the line of scrimmage inside the 10-minute mark of the quarter. It was the seventh pass breakup of his career.
Robbie Rouse's 14-yard run at 8:08 put him over 100-yards rushing in the game, which is the fifth 100-yard rushing game of his career.
Jeremiah Toma had a one-yard tackle for a loss inside of five minutes.
Matt Akers' sack at 2:39 forced a fumble, but Nebraska was able to recover the ball.

4th Quarter
Derek Carr completed a 55-yard pass to A.J. Johnson at 12:44. It was the longest reception of Johnson's career.
Derek Carr hit Josh Harper for a 26-yard touchdown at 12:05. It was the second-straight week the two have hooked up for a touchdown pass.
Robbie Rouse went over 150 yards rushing in the quarter, which is the fourth time in his career that he has had 150-plus yard rushing in a game.
