FRESNO, Calif. -The Fresno State football team jumped out to a 35-0 lead in the first half to carry them to a 42-14 win over Wyoming Saturday night at Bulldog Stadium.

Fresno State's offense continues to dazzle fans at home, where the 'Dogs moved to 4-0 in Bulldog Stadium. In the four home games, Fresno State has outscored opponents 200-78, incuding a 150-37 advantage in the first half of those games.

"I'm pleased that our guys were able to bounce back after a tough loss last week," head coach Tim DeRuyter said. "We've had a full and great week of practice. I was really pleased with our special teams and our defense played outstanding."

The Bulldogs made big plays in all three phases of Saturday's game, which improved Fresno State's record to 5-3 overall on the year and 3-1 in Mountain West play.

Rashad Evans, who opened the scoring with a six-yard touchdown catch, returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter that gave the Bulldogs a 14-0 lead.

Quarterback Derek Carr threw three first-half touchdowns, his other two tosses to Davante Adams and Victor Dean.

Then midway through the fourth quarter with the game already in hand, Bulldog star safety Phillip Thomas intercepted his seventh pass of the season and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown.

"We just knew that we had to come out there with the mindset that we were going to stop these guys," Thomas said. "We knew they were going to throw the ball a lot, so we just came out there really focused and it showed the way we played all game getting a lot of stops and a couple turnovers."

Thomas' play set off a host of records. He entered the game as the national leader in interceptions, and now with seven on the year, that ties the Mountain West record for most picks in a season.

His three pick sixes on the year set a new school record and tied the Mountain West record. Additionally, Fresno State as a team has now returned five interceptions for touchdowns to set a new school record.

The Bulldog defense had another fine outing all together. The 'Dogs held the Cowboys (1-6, 0-3 MW) to 253 total yards, most of which came in the second half. Wyoming had 74 yards of offense in the first half and just 11 for the second quarter.

Wyoming finished the game going 2-for-17 on third downs and only had 83 total yards rushing. This is the third time this season Fresno State has held an opponent under 100 yards rushing.

Senior running back Robbie Rouse became the first player in school history to rush for over 4,000 yards in a career. After rushing 20 times for 91 yards Saturday, he now has 4,036 yards in his remarkable career.

Carr finished the game completing 32-of-48 passes for 268 yards and the three first-half touchdowns. This was his fourth game this season with three or more TDs and he now has 22 through eight games. Last year Carr threw 26 touchdowns in 13 games.

Adams finished the game with 11 receptions for 86 yards. Along with his 12-catch game earlier in the year at No. 4 Oregon, Adams becomes the second player in school history to have a pair of 10-plus catch games in the same season.

Dean finished the game with a career-high eight catches for 78 yards and his first touchdown of the season.

Fresno State forced two turnovers on the night, the second coming on a Sean Alston pick that he returned 53 yards deep into Wyoming territory early in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs now have 21 take-aways on the year, including 15 interceptions.
