The Bulldogs won the toss and deferred to the second half. Fresno State will defend the south goal.
San Jose State scored first on Friday, 2:23 into the game. This is just the third time all season that the Bulldogs were not the first team to score.
Derek Carr had completions of 46 and 27 yards on the Bulldogs' first drive of the game. The 27-yarder was a TD pass to Josh Harper, giving Carr a TD pass in 31 consecutive games, which is the longest streak in the nation.
Carr went over 4,000 yards passing for the season on that first drive, becoming the 13th QB in FBS history to throw for over 4,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.
Harper's TD reception was his 13th of the season, which ties for the fourth most in Bulldog single-season history.
Harper also went over 1,000 yards receiving on that play, giving the Bulldogs two 1,000-yard receivers this year. This is the second time in school history that two receivers have gone over 1,000 yards receiving in the same season (the first was in 2001).
Davante Adams 23-yard TD catch at 6:33 was his 20th on the season, marking just the 11th time in FBS history a wide receiver caught 20 or more TD passes in a season.
Kyrie Wilson forced his first fumble of the season at 3:29, which Jeremiah Toma recovered for the Bulldogs at their own 48-yard line.
Davante Adams' four-yard TD catch at 2:54 was his 104th reception of the season, tying the school single-season record.
Davante Adams' 13-yard catch under the two-minute mark pushed him over 100 yards receiving in the game, which was his 12th 100-yard game in his career and that ties for the most in school history.
Carr and Adams hooked up for their third TD connection at 0:13, which was Carr's fourth TD of the quarter. This is his seventh game this year with four or more TD passes and 14th of his career, which leads all active QBs in both categories.
The 48 combined points between the two teams tied the MW record for most points scored in a first quarter.
There was 550 yards of offense between the two teams in the first quarter.
Garrett Swanson recorded a punt of 66 yards at 11:28, his longest of the season.
The Bulldogs forced their second turnover of the game at 9:02 when Curtis Riley forced a fumble and Todd Hunt recovered at the Fresno State 46-yard line. That is Hunt's first career fumble recovery and Riley's first career forced fumble.
Justin Johnson caught his first career touchdown pass at 6:28, a five-yard score.
That TD for Carr was his 44th of the season, breaking the MW record for TD passes in a season.
Derek Carr now has seven career games and four this year with five or more TD passes.
The 83 points in the first half between the two teams is the most in Mountain West history.
With 354 yards passing in the first half, Carr broke his own Mountain West record for passing yards in a season.

Colin McGuire hit a 42-yard field goal at 4:48. That cut SJSU's lead down to 49-44 and it was McGuire's 10th made field goal of the season.
Davante Adams went over 200-yards receiving in the game during that third quarter. This is his third 200-yard receiving game this year, which sets a new MW record.
Derek Carr's interception at 10:47 was his first pick in his last 306 attempts.
