FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State football team is a month removed from its most successful season in a decade and now begins the process of preparing for the 2014 season. Here are some news and notes surrounding Bulldog football.
With the start of spring classes on Thursday, Jan. 16, Fresno State welcomed in one mid-year transfer in defensive back Stratton Brown from Snow College. Brown, standing 6-1 and weighing 183 pounds, is originally from Bluffdale, Utah (Riverton HS). He has four seasons to complete his three remaining years of eligibility with the Bulldogs.
As a freshman in 2013, Brown recorded 45 tackles, had seven pass breakups and three interceptions, including one that he returned 89 yards for a touchdown in a win over Glendale Community College.
Four former Bulldogs are competing in postseason all-star games. WR Isaiah Burse is playing in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, Austin Wentworth is in the East-West Shrine Game and then quarterback Derek Carr and tight end Marcel Jensen will both play in the Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

Speaking of spring football, it is scheduled to begin on March 10. The Bulldogs will have four practices for three weeks and then three practices during week four, with the final of the NCAA-allotted 15 sessions taking place on Saturday, April 5 with the Real California Milk Spring Showcase that will be open to the public in Bulldog Stadium. More details and information surrounding spring football will be released at a later date.
