Cal Game Tickets on Sale Now
Feb. 3, 2011
FRESNO, Calif. - Approaching one of the most exciting schedules in Bulldog football history, the Fresno State Athletics Department announced season ticket renewals are underway and fans can also secure tickets for the game against Cal.
Fresno State will open the 2011 football campaign on Sept. 3 against the Cal Bears at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. It will be just the third meeting between the two schools with Fresno State holding a 2-0 lead in the series. Fresno State won the last meeting 17-3 in 2000 at Bulldog Stadium. The kickoff time along with the television arrangements will likely be announced in April.
Tickets for the Cal game are available through the Bulldog Ticket office at three different price points based on seat locations. Fans can buy their seats beginning Feb. 3 for $95, $75 and $40 each and all tickets purchased through the Bulldog Ticket Office will benefit the Fresno State Athletics Department. The highest priority seating will be given to orders placed by March 31. For those orders placed by March 31, priority will be given to Bulldog Foundation Members and Season Ticket Holders.
Candlestick Park is home to the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL and seats approximately 70,000 fans. Cal fans are expected out in full force for the season opener and the two schools and game promoters would like to create an atmosphere much like other rivalry games at neutral site locations where half of each stadium is filled with its school colors, similar in nature to the annual Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl between Oklahoma and Texas.
Bulldog fans can also renew their season tickets for the 2011 season, which will include non-conference home games against Boise State, Ole Miss and North Dakota and WAC games against Louisiana Tech, Utah State and age-old rival San Jose State. This will mark Fresno State's final season as a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
The Broncos are the defending WAC champions and coming off a victory over Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl. Under head coach Chris Petersen, the Broncos have won more games than any other program in college football over the last 10 years. Boise State will be led on the field by 2010 Heisman Trophy finalist Kellen Moore.
Ole Miss, a program that has played in two of the last three Cotton Bowl games, will be the first team from the Southeastern Conference to ever play in Bulldog Stadium. Coached by Houston Nutt, the Rebels continue a series with Fresno State that started last season in Oxford, Miss., a 55-38 Ole Miss victory.
