COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West announced Tuesday the football rotational sequence and matchups for future football seasons, beginning with the first four-year cycle (2013-16).

Fresno State has been paired up with Boise State, New Mexico and Wyoming as its cross-division opponents for the next two seasons in addition to the five intra-division games the Bulldogs will play annually.

Also with Tuesday's announcement, the Bulldogs learned they will be hosting Boise State, Nevada, New Mexico and UNLV in 2013 while traveling to play at Hawai'i, San Diego State, San Jose State and Wyoming. The site at which Fresno State plays those teams will alternate for Year 2 in 2014.

"It's very exciting to see the 2013 Mountain West schedule come out today," head coach Tim DeRuyter said. "I know the Red Wave will be fired up to see longtime rivals Boise State and Nevada, as well as UNLV and New Mexico coming to Bulldog Stadium this fall. Playing road games at San Diego State and San Jose State will give our fans a great opportunity to support the 'Dogs and show the Mountain West how well the Red Wave travels. Two additional road games in Hawai'i and Wyoming will present major challenges to our team as we strive to defend our Mountain West championship."

The complete 2013 Mountain West football schedule, including specific dates, is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

The scheduling format for the new 12-member football lineup was computer-generated and consists of five intra-division games and the three cross-divisional contests annually. Each institution will play four home games and four road Conference games each season, and will play every Mountain West opponent home and away during each four-year cycle.

Intra-divisional opponents will alternate sites annually (three home/two away or two home/three away). The three cross-divisional opponents who are missed initially will appear on the schedule in the second two years of the cycle, again alternating sites from Year 3 to Year 4.

For Fresno State, that means the Bulldogs will play at Air Force, Hawai'i, San Diego State and San Jose State in 2015 and host Colorado State, Nevada, UNLV and Utah State that season. The scheduled sites against those same eight teams will flip for the 2016 season, in Year 4 of the sequence.

The entire four-year sequence repeats beginning in 2017 and will continue thereafter.

Last month, the Mountain West's directors of athletics formed two football divisions based upon common geographic regions and traditional rivalries, while also creating the first Mountain West Football Championship Game. Beginning in the fall of 2013, Mountain West football membership will include Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State and Wyoming in the Mountain Division and Fresno State, Hawai`i, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State and UNLV in the West Division.

The inaugural Mountain West Football Championship Game will be played Dec. 7, 2013 at the home stadium of the divisional champion with the highest BCS ranking.
