FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State Quarterback Club Draft Day Party and Sports Auction, scheduled for Saturday will have a special guest. Super Champion quarterback Trent Dilfer, who appeared at the ESPY Awards Monday in Las Vegas, will be in Fresno to participate in the Draft Day Party and Sports Auction.
The Draft Day Party and Sports Auction will be held at 6 p.m. at the Corporate Aircraft Hanger on the corner of Shields and Winery. Dinner, cocktails, live music, silent and live auction items and socializing with the Bulldog coaching staff and Dilfer will make for a great evening. There is an aviation theme of "Flying High with the Bulldogs."
Pat Hill and the Bulldog coaching staff will discuss their excellent recruiting class, plus the 2001 season, which opens Sept. 1 at Bulldog Stadium against No. 5 Oregon State. Dilfer will discuss his recent Super Bowl championship win for the Baltimore Ravens. Dilfer was an NCAA record setting quarterback for the Bulldogs from 1991-93, guiding Fresno State to two bowl games, including a 24-7 win over USC in the 1992 Freedom Bowl.
Dilfer has been making the several appearances recently, with stops at Disneyworld, the Tonight Show and the ESPYs. He also appeared in a "Got Milk?" ad.
Dinner will be provided by the Eagles Landing Restaurant at Table Mountain and live music will be played by Joe Lenigan's Little Big Band.
Tickets must be reserved by Friday by calling the Quarterback Club office at 278-7801 or 287-0133. Tickets for the event are $50 per person. Quarterback Club members and Bulldog Foundation members can purchase tickets for $40. Over 500 people attended last year's event.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a social hour hosted by the coaching staff and a silent auction. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and the program and live auction begins at 8:30 p.m. Included in the program will be video highlights of the 2001 recruiting class plus highlight of the 2000 Bulldog football season.
