FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State head coach Tim DeRuyter announced Tuesday that Monrovia High School running back Kurt Scoby signed a National Letter of Intent to attend school and play football for the Bulldogs beginning in the fall of 2014.

Scoby, at 5-8, 215 pounds, rushed for 2,206 yards and 35 touchdowns for the Monrovia Wildcats last season.

"We're really pleased to add Kurt to our signing class," DeRuyter said. "We originally did not have a spot for a running back on this year's roster, but with T.J. Thomas moving to linebacker, a spot opened. I'm also pleased at the academic work Kurt has done to put himself into position to be here. It's a testament to his character and we can't wait for him to get here this summer and compete."

As a sophomore, Scoby ran for over 1,500 yards and 21 touchdowns at Charter Oak High School. He played the last half of his junior season at St. Paul High School.

Scoby becomes the 23rd member of the 2014 recruiting class, joining the other 22 that signed back on National Signing Day on Feb. 5.
