FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State head football coach Tim DeRuyter welcomed the Bulldog Foundation's Green V Society members with a hole-in-one Monday afternoon at Copper River Country Club during the BDF's annual Green V Golf Tournament.

DeRuyter was greeting all members who played in the tournament on the eighth hole at Copper River, a 132-yard par 3. As part of the tournament, DeRuyter hit one shot per group as they came through the eighth hole.

The third group that came through saw DeRuyter hit his pitching wedge the perfect number, recording the first ace of his life.

The hole-in-one was also witnessed by Director of Athletics Thomas Boeh, who greeted Green V members on the green at the eighth hole as the designated putter. Boeh didn't have any work to do as DeRuyter's ball landed two feet from the hole, bounced twice and went in.

"It was unbelievable," DeRuyter said. "It was a first for me; I was a little shocked and didn't know how to react. I saw Thomas throw his arms up and the group just went crazy."

DeRuyter's hole-in-one quickly spread throughout the tournament, which featured 120 golfers. Fresno State coaches also attended the tournament, playing and supporting the Bulldog Foundation.

"Monday's tournament was a great way to show our appreciation to such key supporters," head men's basketball coach Rodney Terry said. "It was an exciting day and DeRuyter definitely knows how to add to the fun with a hole-in-one."
