VISALIA, Calif. - The Fresno State football program wrapped up its week-long tour of the San Joaquin Valley and the Bulldog Express with the South Valley Quarterback Club Dinner and Auction on Saturday night at KRC Safety.
The event, which combines entertainment with fundraising to support the football program, is one that provides a big boost to the team.
"The support we get from the south valley is immeasurable," head coach Tim DeRuyter said. "In order to run a football program, it takes support and we are so grateful for the generosity of our loyal supporters."
The event started out with a social hour and even included a dunk tank where attendees had the opportunity to pay for a chance to hit a target and drop DeRuyter in a tank full of water.
After dinner the auction took place. Highlight items included a football signed by coaches Jim Sweeney, Pat Hill and Tim DeRuyter, the opportunity for four fans to run out of the tunnel with the team at a game this fall and a helicopter wine tour to Paso Robles.
The Bulldog Express, sponsored by 940 AM ESPN Radio and Paul Evert's RV Country, hit stops in Visalia, Bakersfield, Madera, Lamoore and Paso Robles giving Bulldog fans the opportunity to interact with DeRuyter in a casual setting.
Fresno State Athletics cannot thank all the partners and businesses that participated in the Bulldog Express enough.
Fresno State opens the 2013 season, the second under DeRuyter and his staff, on Aug. 29 at home in Bulldog Stadium against Rutgers.
