Bulldogs' 2000 Football Schedule Includes Two Nationally Televised Games
June 16, 2000
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State football team will make two national television appearances on FOX Sports Net (FSN), the network and the Western Athletic Conference announced today.
The Bulldogs' game with California on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 7:15 p.m. PDT at Bulldog Stadium will be aired by FSN as will FS's game at Rice, which will be moved to 4 p.m. PDT on Thursday, Oct. 5.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for us to show the country exactly what Bulldog football is all about," head coach Pat Hill said. "It's very exciting for our entire program. The hard practices we will have in the fall combined with our tough non-conference schedule should put us at our best for those games."
Fresno State's game last year at SMU was the first time the Bulldogs have appeared on the network. The Bulldogs also made a national television appearance in the EA Sports Las Vegas Bowl.
FSN's national schedule begins Saturday, Sept. 16, when TCU and its Heisman Trophy candidate LaDainian Tomlinson host Northwestern at 9 a.m. PDT. In addition to Fresno State's games, two other WAC games are scheduled for national telecasts, but the teams have not been determined at this time. Games on Nov. 11 and Nov. 24 will be announced on a 6-12 day advance notice.
Fox Sports Net will also telecast the first annual Silicon Valley Classic on Dec. 31 at 3:30 p.m. PST. The game will be played in San Jose, Calif., and will feature one of the top WAC teams against a national at-large opponent.
This is the second year the WAC and FSN have teamed up. FOX Sports Net will also televise up to five regional WAC games this year with dates and teams to be announced at a later date.
