Three-Game Mini-Plans on Sale Saturday
June 19, 2009
FRESNO, Calif. - With less than 80 days before the season-opening game against UC Davis, Bulldog football fans can get one of the best values available with a new three-game mini-plan. The mini plan will be available online only, through gobulldogs.com beginning on Saturday. Fans can purchase the package by phone (278-DOGS) or by visiting the Bulldog Ticket Office on Monday, June 22. With this mini-plan, Bulldog fans can get a ticket to the Fresno State vs. Boise State game on Sept. 18, plus tickets to two other home games for just $89. The Bulldog and Broncos have built one of the WAC's best football rivalries this decade. Fresno State will host the defending WAC champs at Bulldog Stadium on Friday, Sept. 18. The Broncos suffered just one loss last season and finished the year ranked No. 9 in the final BCS national rankings. That game has been designated as a "White Out" game at Bulldog Stadium, as fans are encouraged to wear white. For the eighth straight year, the game will be nationally televised, and being the lone college football game played on that Friday night, will bring tremendous attention to the Valley and campus. A "white out", which can be seen at other college football venues across the nation, is an awesome spectacle to behold. In addition to the Boise State game, fans can select from the season opening game vs. UC Davis (Sept. 5), the Homecoming game vs. arch-rival San Jose State (Oct. 17), the Utah State game on Halloween afternoon (Oct. 31) or the home finale against Louisiana Tech (Nov. 21), also an afternoon game. The UC Davis game has been designated as Football Fiesta Night with one of the largest tributes to the Hispanic community ever on the Fresno State campus. Plenty of activities are planned for the Football Fiesta, including pre-game festivities at Bulldog Boulevard. Bulldog Boulevard will once again be the desired pregame destination for Bulldog fans, with food, beverages, games for children and live music/ entertainment leading up to the game.
The Dogs returns several key players from a team that made its ninth bowl appearance in the last 10 seasons. Among those are electrifying running backs Ryan Mathews and Lonyae Miller, big-play receivers Chastin West, Marlon Moore and Seyi Ajirotutu and All-WAC defensive standouts Chris Carter, Ben Jacobs and Moses Harris. According to Phil Steele's College Football Preview magazine, the Dogs will be loaded on offense, with the WAC's top group of receivers, second-best running backs unit and third-best offensive line. On defense, Steele predicts the Dogs' linebacking corps ranks second and Fresno State's special teams unit, which returns kicker Kevin Goessling and punter Robert Malone, will again be among the best in the WAC. The Dogs return four players (West, Moore, A.J. Jefferson and Rashad Evans) who scored touchdowns on returns last season, which is an impressive stat considering 72 Division I FBS team didn't have a single touchdown on kickoff returns last season. Jefferson is the NCAA's career active kick return specialist with nearly 30-yards per return. Leading the defense will be Jacobs, a junior and two-year starter who has a team-high 113 tackles in 2008. Carter and Harris were close behind and will be vocal and emotional leaders for the Dogs on defense again this season. Fans can order their three-game mini plans beginning Saturday, June 20, online only at gobulldogs.com or by clicking the tickets link at the top of this page. Beginning Monday, June 22, fans can purchase their mini-plan tickets at the Bulldog Ticket Office or via phone (559) 278-DOGS. "We are Your Team!"
