FRESNO, Calif. - As the first week of the Fresno State team football comes to a close, the Bulldog coaching staff is gearing up for its second and final week. During the two sessions, more than 2,000 players and coaches will participate in the camp, which has grown into one of the largest in California.

"Our camps have really taken on a life of their own," said assistant head coach Dennis Wagner, who coordinates the camps. "With the success that we've had under Coach (Pat) Hill and the effort we put into the camp it has become a great success. We are very happy to provide this opportunity to the young players and at the same time showcase our great university."

The first round of the camp ends Tuesday, with the second session begins Thursday, June 25. Several local schools will be participating in the camp later this week.

"There are a lot of good, young players at these camps," Wagner said. "We have teams from all over the state and it creates a great and competitive environment for the players. It has been a lot of fun."

Scrimmages are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings between 7-10 p.m. Sunday's scrimmage is from 9-11:30 a.m. All scrimmages will be held at the Bulldog Practice Facility and are open to the public.
