HOUSTON, Texas - The Rotary Lombardi Award committee announced the 2014 Rotary Lombardi Award watch list on Monday, which featured three players from the Fresno State football team.

Bulldog seniors Tyeler Davison and Cody Wichmann along with junior Ejiro Ederaine were all named to the list. Fresno State is one of 14 schools in the FBS to have three players represented on the Rotary Lombardi Award watch list.

Eligibility for the Rotary Lombardi Award is limited to down linemen, end-to-end, either on offense or defense, who set up no farther than 10 yards to the left or right of the ball, or linebackers who set up no farther than five yards deep from the line of scrimmage. The candidates earned a place on the preliminary watch list by earning All-American honors, being named to their respective all-conference teams or receiving 2014 pre-season honors. The Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List will be updated prior to the start of the 2014 season in order to identify other players who have received significant pre-season honors.

"This is one of our favorite times of the year," Rotary Lombardi Award committee chair Brian Carr said. "The dog days of summer are when people start thinking about college football again. We are ready to see who is going to distinguish themselves this year, and we look forward to tracking the progress of each player on this list."

Davison, a defensive end, is a senior leader for Fresno State's defense and a two-time All-Mountain West selection. A two-year returning starter, Davison has 100 career tackles, 15.5 tackles for a loss, six sacks and has recovered three fumbles, one of which went for a touchdown in 2012 at Nevada.

Wichmann, the top returning lineman for the Bulldog offense that led the nation in passing last season, enters his senior campaign having made 36 career starts. He has played the third-most snaps (2,824) of any FBS offensive linemen entering the season.

Both Davison and Wichmann are also on the preseason watch list for the Outland Trophy.

Ederaine, who is on the CFPA 2014 Linebacker Trophy watch list, is coming off his 2013 season in which he was a second-team All-Mountain West selection. Ederaine led the team with 16.5 tackles for a loss - the sixth-most in school history - and 10 sacks.

The Rotary Lombardi Watch List, intended as a reference tool for the Selection Committee, will be periodically updated and revised through the conclusion of the voting to determine the 12 Semifinalists for 2014.

The 45th Rotary Lombardi Award will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 at the Bayou Music Center in Houston, Texas. For more information, visit
