FORT WORTH, Texas - The Davey O'Brien Foundation announced Wednesday the 2013 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List and Fresno State senior Derek Carr was one of 34 players featured on the list.

The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award.

Carr is the only returning quarterback in the FBS that has over 6,000 career passing yards, 50 or more career touchdown passes and less than 20 interceptions. No other QB meets all three categories. His 37 touchdown passes in 2012 are tied for the most by a player returning this season.

He enters his senior season ranked third nationally in career TD passes and his career touchdown-to-interception ratio of 63-to-16 is the third-highest among all returning quarterbacks, trailing only Alabama's A.J. McCarron (49-to-8) and TCU's Casey Paschall (36-to-8).

Carr has thrown for 7,760 yards in his career and needs 3,049 yards during his senior season to break the school passing record that has stood since 1986. Carr has thrown for over 3,000 yards in each of the past two seasons, joining Trent Dilfer as the only quarterbacks in school history to accomplish that feat.

In 2012, he passed for a league record 4,104 yards and went on to earn the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year award and honorable mention All-America accolades from Sports Illustrated.

The field is narrowed to 16 semifinalists on Monday, Nov. 4. The Foundation and the Selection Committee will announce three finalists on Monday, Nov. 25. The 2013 Davey O'Brien Winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards show on Thursday, Dec. 12.

In addition to the Davey O'Brien Award announcement, the Allstate Insurance Company and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) recently announced 151 nominees for the 2013 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® and Carr was among the players selected.

This award recognizes a select group of college football players who have made a commitment to enriching the lives of others while contributing to the greater good of their communities.

Other national awards that Carr is on the watch list for include the Maxwell Award, CFPA Quarterback Trophy and the Heisman Pundit Watch List.
