Fresno State to Host the Inaugural College Colors Day Classic
FRESNO, Calif. - Establishing a new tradition in college football, Fresno State and Nevada will play in the inaugural College Colors Day Classic football game on September 1. The Classic, which will highlight the 83-year old rivalry between these two institutions, will cap off one of the nation's newest holidays -- College Colors Day. College Colors Day, created by The Collegiate Licensing Company and its Consortium of colleges and universities, coincides with "back to school" and the kick-off of the college football season. College Colors Day seeks to celebrate and promote the traditions and spirit that drive collegiate athletics by encouraging fans, alumni and students from across the country to wear apparel of their favorite college throughout the day of September 1, 2006. "We are excited that CLC has selected Fresno State as a kickoff to the College Colors Day Classic program," said head coach Pat Hill. "The Nevada game is going to be a great way to kickoff the college football season. We are looking forward to Sept. 1." College Colors Day also strives to promote higher education through increased public awareness and celebrates the achievements of colleges and universities, acknowledging their critical and fundamental importance to the United States. "We are trilled to kickoff the inaugural College Colors Day Classic with two great college football programs," said Pat Battle, CEO of The Collegiate Licensing Company. "College Colors Day is fast becoming a nation-wide celebration of the kickoff of college football. We are so pleased to have a game with tremendous national interest." The College Colors Day Classic will be played at Bulldog Stadium in Fresno (Calif.) and televised on ESPN at 5:00 p.m. PST.
