In addition to the predicted order of finish, the 2012 Preseason All-Mountain West Football Team was also announced. Junior quarterback Derek Carr was selected as the preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
"It's an honor, but I have to go out and earn it," Carr said of being named the preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
Boise State was predicted to capture the 2012 Mountain West football title in the preseason poll. The Broncos, who return five starters from an offensive unit that ranked fifth nationally in scoring offense (44.23 ppg) last year, received 27 of the 30 first place votes and 296 points overall in the poll.
Nevada was second in the poll with 244 points and Fresno State was third with 231 points. The Bulldogs received two first-place votes in the poll. Wyoming came in fourth with 213 points and was followed by San Diego State, who had the final first-place vote and 173 points overall.
San Diego State defensive back Leon McFadden was named the preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Boise State's Mitch Burroughs was the preseason Special Teams Player of the Year.
Carr threw for 3,544 yards and 26 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2011. He returns for his junior year and has been named to four national award preseason watch lists to go along with Tuesday's announcement.
Rouse, the nation's fourth-leading active rusher with 3,157 career rushing yards, ran for 1,549 yards and 13 touchdowns. He is a preseason candidate for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award and the Doak Walker Award along with two other national awards.
Brown is also on the preseason watch lists for the Rotary Lombardi Award and the 2012 Bronko Nagurski Trophy. A two-time all-conference selection, Brown recorded a team-high 85 tackles last season to go along with 8.5 tackles for a loss and three sacks. He has 189 tackles, 19.5 tackles for a loss and five sacks in his career.
