FRESNO, Calif. - Day one of Fresno State's training camp got underway with the first full squad two-a-day practice at the Fresno State practice facility. The Bulldogs endured temperatures in excess of 100 degrees to kick off the first day of fall camp.

"I was very happy with the way things went," head coach Pat Hill said. "This is an important time of year for us. We've got great depth at a lot of positions, so guys are going to be challenging other guys for reps. That's something we haven't had a lot of in other training camps. I'm very excited with the way today went and the way I think things are going to continue to go."

The squad was divided up this morning, with one half practicing from 7:15-8:45 a.m. and the other from 9-10:30 a.m. After lunch and meetings, the Bulldogs came back for a practice from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The second session featured individual drills, unit drills and one hour of offense vs. defense drills. The practice was completed with conditioning drills.

One of the highlights of the day was the return of running back Paris Gaines. The junior took part in his first practice after suffering a knee injury during the EA Sports Las Vegas Bowl in December. Gaines took the ball on several handoffs and appeared to be suffering no ill effects of the injury.

Fresno State continues training camp tomorrow with another two-a-day practice. Session one begins at 7:15 with the afternoon session getting underway at 2:15 p.m. The practice is open to the public.

The Bulldogs will also be attending the annual Kickoff Dinner tomorrow evening at the Convention Center. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m.
