FRESNO, Calif. - When Pat Hill called a team meeting for 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, the players brought their playbooks and were ready for another teaching session. Instead, Hill sent them to their lockers to change clothes and the Dogs boarded busses for an afternoon of fun at Fresno's Island Water Park.
It was a great way for the Dogs to cool down on a 102-degree day, not to mention a great break from the practice grind that began August 5. The Bulldogs were scheduled to practice twice on Wednesday, but after the morning session Hill decided to cancelled the night session and give the players a break.
"It has been a tough camp and I'm very pleased with the intensity and hard work we've seen," said Hill. "This is a great way to reward them for that hard work, and to give them a mental and physical break from the camp grind."
The Dogs returned to practice on Thursday afternoon and are preparing for a big scrimmage in Bulldog Stadium Saturday night, the second major scrimmage of fall camp. The remaining call camp scrimmages are closed to the public and media.
"We Are Your Team" - The `Dogs will be starting their 2009 Football season off right with Football Fiesta Night on Saturday, September 5th at 7pm when the UC Davis Aggies come to town.
