FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State football program announced Thursday its 2012 non-conference schedule, which is highlighted by a home game against Colorado and a road game at Oregon.
The Bulldogs open the 2012 season at home on Sept. 1 against Weber State. Fresno State then travels to Autzen Stadium to face Oregon on Sept. 8 before hosting Colorado on Sept. 15 in Bulldog Stadium. The final game of the 2012 non-conference schedule lies on Sept. 29, when the `Dogs travel to face the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
"We are very excited about our well-rounded non-conference schedule that will prepare us for our first season in the Mountain West Conference," head coach Pat Hill said. "I know our fans will enjoy us playing two Pac-12 schools, one at home and one on the road."
Fresno State is joining the Mountain West Conference in 2012 and will play eight MW games annually. The 2012 Mountain West schedule will be released at a later date.
Oregon has won six-straight games against the Bulldogs, all since 1996 and two of those victories were in overtime, but Fresno State took the first two games of the series in 1981 and 1982. Five of the eight games in the series have been played in Eugene, Ore.
The last time Fresno State played Colorado, David Carr threw for one touchdown and ran for another in the 2001 season-opening upset of the Buffs on the road. That is the Bulldogs' lone win over Colorado in five tries and the 2012 game will mark the first time that CU plays in Bulldog Stadium.
Fresno State has a 3-0 all-time record against Weber State and the two schools last met in 2005 season opener when the `Dogs won, 55-17, at home. The Bulldogs are 4-1 all-time against Tulsa, including a 2-0 record on the road. Tulsa won the last meeting between the schools, 31-24 in the 2005 AutoZone Liberty Bowl.
